Shana McLoud, The Hue Lifestyle

If there is one thing that I absolutely love about Shana McLoud (and there are many!), it’s that she refuses to be defined by just being a hairstylist.

Shana is a YouTuber, educator, writer, clean beauty advocate, encourager for other hairstylist’s, and owner at Salon Hue in Cary, North Carolina.

Shana McLoud is the owner of Salon Hue in Cary, NC. On this episode, Shana talks ways in which she's redfined herself as a hairstylist, how she cultivates community in a highly competitive industry, her thoughts on creating the best client experience, and so much more. Listen wherever you digest your favorite podcasts by searching The Girl Inspired Project.

She has a real, true passion for giving her client’s the best possible experience while also pouring her heart into helping other women who want to go out on their own as a studio salon owner by providing education, support, and empowerment.

I truly believe that Shana challenges what it means to do hair by always asking herself how she can do more for her clients, help others, as well as how can she further grow and expand in her business. You can be a hairstylist and a mogul apparently.

Bethany Tran, The Root Collective

About five years ago now, I began questioning a lot of things in my life. Where is my food coming from? What chemicals are in my beauty products? Why do I have to live in debt? How and where are my clothes being made? How are the goods I consume impacting negatively or even hurting those around me?

Through those questions began my journey into being a big supporter of ethical and fair trade goods, specifically, clothes, accessories, and shoes.

This week’s episode of The Girl Inspired Project, I sat down with my dear friend and fellow entrepreneur, Bethany Tran, founder of The Root Collective. While Bethany had a similar experience getting into the world of ethical and fair trade goods, she sat down and asked herself, “Why isn’t someone doing something about what I’m seeing?”

In short, Bethany was just the person to create a solution to a bigger problem: under and unemployment in the slums of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Due to lack of jobs or immense underemployment, many men are forced to turn to joining gangs just to be able to support their family.

It is her mission to provide steady, fair employment to artisan shoemakers in Guatemala, so they can end generational poverty and begin to flourish.

And she’s doing just that. Currently, The Root Collective impacts about 30-35 families in Guatemala at one time.

And this episode doesn’t stop there.

Bethany also encourages business owners by sharing how she’s overcome the many challenges in The Root Collective, why she feels grit will allow you to achieve business success in the long term, advice to new social enterprise owners, and how you as one consumer can shape the direction of businesses just buy what you choose or don’t choose to buy.

Truthfully, this is an incredibly dynamic and encouraging interview.

Ways To Develop An Effective Social Media Strategy

On top of everything we else we have to manage in our businesses as either solopreneurs or small businesses, digital marketing is also one of them.

One of the biggest pain points I hear from my clients is that they don’t feel social media is working for them, it overwhelms them, or to be honest, they just have no idea where to get started.

You've heard me say it before, but digital marketing, specifically social media, is one the hardest thing for small business owners to get a handle on and feel like they are doing successfully. In this mini episode, I share with you a few ways you can begin to clarify and develop your social media strategy for your business, so that you can get back to doing what's most important in your business.

You aren’t alone. If you aren’t an expert in social media or if you don’t have time to keep up with the constantly changing landscape, it’s tough for anyone.

In my many years of business, I’ve learned a lot about navigating social media to work for your business, but more specifically, how to develop an effective social media strategy, so that your digital marketing works for you, your business, and your audience.

On this mini episode of The Girl Inspired Project, I share three key ways you can begin to clarify and develop your social media strategy to make digital marketing easier right now.

Side note, this is the first part of a two part series, which the second half of 'Ways To Develop An Effective Social Media Strategy For Your Business' will come out two weeks from now, but will also be a mini episode.

I really do hope that this mini series on the podcast will help you to understand some key points of managing social media effectively for your business and your business goals.

If you ever need a second opinion or a helping hand, I’d be happy to sit down for a Girl Inspired Session or do a social media audit for your business. You can find out more about the services we offer small businesses at our services page.
